About the Project
The East Loop CID is embarking on an exciting streetscape improvement project along the 5800-5900 blocks of Delmar Blvd, stretching from Hodiamont Avenue to Laurel Street. This project aims to transform Delmar Blvd into a vibrant, welcoming, and accessible space for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers, enhancing the safety, aesthetics, and overall community experience.
What We're Doing

Evaluating current street conditions, including pavement, sidewalks, and traffic flow.

Enhancing pedestrian safety and accessibility.

Creating better connectivity for cyclists and public transit users.

Improving street lighting, landscaping, and intersection design.

Developing conceptual designs and plans to seek federal funding and grants to support the next phases.​
Project Timeline

Discovery & Analysis Phase: Currently underway, including traffic studies, community surveys, and data collection.

Conceptual Design (30% Completion): Anticipated completion within 2025, featuring multiple design alternatives for public feedback.

Grant Application: Preparation and submission of federal grant applications to secure funding for detailed engineering, design, and construction.
Project Site
The project focuses specifically on Delmar Boulevard, from Hodiamont Avenue to Laurel Street. This area serves as a vital commercial and community corridor, connecting residents and visitors to local businesses, transit options, and cultural destinations. Improvements made here will significantly benefit both the neighborhood and its surrounding areas.
